This replica was probably made by W.H. Young in Oxford, following the paper restoration of Emile Gilliéron fils published in the Palace of Minos. The relief was reconstructed from several fragments found in the southern area of the Palace of Knossos. For Evans this was a depiction of one of the priest-kings of Knossos. Most scholars now believe that the fragments belong to several different figures.
