The Shield Fresco was discovered in fragments in the area of the Grand Staircase, in a ‘Loggia’ over the Hall of the Colonnades. J.P. Droop undertook the restoration of the original pieces for Heraklion Archaeological Museum and a replica by Emile Gilliéron fils was later installed in situ at Knossos.
