The Cup-Bearer was discovered in fragments in 1900 in the South West Quarter of the Palace. Evans initially called the figure ‘Ariadne’ before more fragments came to light, showing that it was a male figure carrying a silver rhyton, and part of the Procession Fresco. Emile Gilliéron père conserved the fragments and restored them.
